 Owners comments

Start by thinking back to when you originally purchased your property

Q. What influenced you to buy the property
A. It was purchased as a vacant block of ground in 1972.
The sub division was known as Mountview then and was a Kern Bros development.
We had house plans drawn up and the residence was built by Doyle Constructions. We moved into our new home in October 1974. We were one of the earliest homes in our street. The house was just a box on posts as were all the other houses being built in the vicinity. The suburb finished at Bamford Lane and there were cattle grazing on the western side. All the neighbours got along and set about starting their lawns and gardens. None of this turfing already laid as is done today. Imported top soil was spread and runners planted which were obtained from family and friends. Concreting under and putting in driveways and paths was next on the agenda which we all did a bit at a time as finances permitted. Friends and family were on call to lend a hand when required.
It was a family friendly suburb and all the neighbourhood kids grew up together and always played in the street and on the footpath as the eastern end of Hasson Street was a dead end at that time. Lots of tennis, cricket and football and kids learning to ride bikes and roller skate.

Q. What advantages are there living in your home.
A. We all took pride in our homes and worked hard to establish and improve the house and yard. As the suburb grew and shops, services, schools and medical centres were built close to home as the family grew, access to these services was easy. Quacks on Bamford, Mountview Plaza (Jack the Slasher) which originally housed a chemist, Parkside Shopping Centre, Stockland (then Nathan Plaza), K Mart, Willows, Bunnings and Domain Central were easily accessible.

Q. When friends and family stay what do they point out as the benefits of your home?
A. It is a quiet street. Everyone used to take pride in their lawns and gardens.
The view. Mount Stuart to the south and Mount Louisa to the north and we used to see the Pinnacles of Hervey Range to the west and Castle Hill to the east. Ongoing development and tree growth has put an end to some of the earlier views.
We usually always get a good breeze mainly from the east and we spent a lot of time on our front patio when the children were young.
The availability of services and a number of supermarkets is also a benefit.

Q. What are the best things about your home?
A.
1. Safety and security which has been upgraded.
2. Additional improvements downstairs.
3. Establishment of a workshop and lawn locker.
4. Outside deck to rear of residence which has held many a family celebration.
5. Extra car accommodation to western side of building.
6. It has been a lovely home to us and our two children as they grew.

Q. Additional comments:
It is hard to say goodbye to our home of 51 years where we raised our two children and it has always been home to them and their friends.
We hope that whoever purchases the home enjoys it as much as we have.
